It is safe to say, that we here in the United States love our pets. In a 2017-18 survey conducted by the American Pet Products Association (APPA) 84.6 million U.S. households’ have pets. That means that 68% of us have at least one pet within our homes. There have been other surveys which convey that the vast majority of Americans consider our pets as part of the family.
So, being that April is National Pet Month, what better way for us to be grateful for our pets than to support organizations which make every effort to help those animals who do not yet have a loving home find one.
Our company, Do Only Good Certified Pet Nutrition, recently attended the Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida. While there, we were fortunate enough to meet two great rescue organizations in the area. Deez Bulldogz Rez Q, founded by Dr. D. Hage, works solely with bulldogs, helping them find a new home. While the other organization, In Harmony with Nature (IHWN), tries to find homes for various animals – dogs, cats, parrots, reptiles, and pigs. IHWN offers these animals sanctuary (including wolves and wolfdogs) with a view to holistic methods of care.
Another organization we wanted to make our readers aware of is located in Oklahoma. The Animal Welfare & Adoption Agency of Miami does excellent work advocating the adoption of dogs along with spaying/neutering within their community. They also offer a foster care program, so that dogs can have a temporary, loving home until a permanent one is found.

Another way to celebrate National Pet Month would be to help one of the superb adoption/rescue groups in your community or perhaps adopt a pet yourself. We cannot think of a better way to celebrate this month than giving an animal in need a loving home – it could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship!
