Unfortunately, it is time to wave goodbye to summer and greet the back-to-school and a quickly approaching autumn season.
No doubt, as kids are at school, they will miss their beloved pets and visa-Versa. As parents, we see firsthand how pets add value to our lives and that of our children. With this in mind, we wanted to acquaint you with an organization which encourages pets in school. Pets in the Classroom (https://petsintheclassroom.org) offers grants to teachers to purchase animals for their classroom. A recent study conducted by this organization along with the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) revealed that a pet inside the classroom could advance both children’s social skills as well as aiding in academic performance. Please be sure to visit their website and see if their program could be beneficial for your local school district.
We know all too well how the back-to-school season adds more activities to our already busy lifestyles, and our pets can take a backseat to all these added events to our schedule. When possible, make it a point to include your four-legged family members at these functions – your kid’s soccer game, the farmers market, or local fair – if the event is pet-friendly be sure to invite yours along!
